Amazing story about racism and how to deal with them
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

I received the following in an email. If it was true, it confirms what I believe; British Airways is the coolest. The text are not my own by the way.

Scene took place on a British Airways flight between Johannesburg and London . A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man.Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter," the hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it then?" she responded. "You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please," the hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this Flight is taken. I will go to see if another place is available." The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is a seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class." Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: "It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting." She turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class." At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.

Comments
I too applauded! What a punchline! May I suspect the woman is an American? Don't know, just this gut feeling. May not be true also but you know the British, their wit can be both sarcastic and on point. I always liked British Airways ever since I watched the very first episode of Air Crash Investigations which featured a British Airway plane in distress and a really cool headed co-captain and his captain unconcious hanging OUTSIDE the window whilst high up in the altitude. That episode made me take notice of this show and made me respect pilots. Now this story! Amazing if it was true and I am inclined to think it is true.
So the answer to how to deal with racism? Do like the British Airways, humiliate them back. They deserve nothing less but first class humiliation.

 Coming Soon : Maiden's Vow
Permanent link  Post a Comment  2 comments

Astro will be showing Maiden's Vow. I just saw the trailer, a bit cute-ish and I hope that's not how the acting's gonna be. I mean I can stand 4 Charmaine Sheh or rather Charmaine Sheh in 4 characters, in fact she acts the same in all but Joe Ma trying to prove his versatility with 4 characters? I mean it's like boring X 4 = death for me. Hopefully he will be like Sonija Kwok in Land Of Wealth, unexpectedly tolerably entertainingly very watcheable but still some way to go. I think I will do a Episodic Thoughts on that.
And on TV I saw Ada Choi and her husband interviewed. Not only did he speak fluent Cantonese (he's from Guangdong right?), they looked absolutely in love. Good for her. And for him too. He seems like a serious stable few words kinda guy who goes straight to the point. Seems like a good man.
Ok Maiden's Vow. How am I to know the story without checking out the spoilers ridden reviews? What is it about? Reincarnation?

East Vs West expressed in graphic icons
Permanent link  Post a Comment  3 comments

I wanted to post the following which I received in an email for a very long time, but seems to get sidetracked all the time. Not this time because I feel these graphic icons on various attitudes of both cultures are at most time on point and true, from a Asian perspective. The email says "Understanding of Chinese/Asian culture vs. Western.........interesting research. It also applies to all Asians, including the Indians, Japanese, Thais, Koreans, Indonesian, Malays, etc... These icons were designed by Liu Young who was born in China and educated in Germany. Blue --> Westerner, Red --> Asian/Chinese" . See if you agree.

All are thumbnails so click on them for the original sized pictures.

OPINION
(which is why westerners can be quite blunt and insensitive whilst Asians a bit indecisive)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

WAY OF LIFE
(true, individuality is more important than anything whilst for Asians, family is more important)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

PUNCTUALITY
(not really, Asians are hard working, we go the extra mile when we want to, but this is spot on for weddings)

CONTACTS
(Spot on also, Asians believe in contacts, friends, connections)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

ANGER
(True, we keep our feelings to ourselves, can be good, can be bad also depending on how you see it. In Asia for someone in management to scold his subordinates with foul language is considered the ultimate insult, which some westerners did when in Asia screaming the F word. It is a matter of respect and if you want to scold, go inside a room because in Asia, there is such thing called giving face, very important culture)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

QUEUE WHEN WAITING
(Very true but I am sure the westerners do jump queues, especially when they live in Asia long enough. I suppose this is true for Malaysia and Singapore, especially Malaysia during LRT rush)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

SUNDAYS ON THE ROAD
(It looks negative but I believe Asians spend Sundays with family by going out)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

PARTY
(I don't get this)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

IN THE RESTAURANT
(I disagree. Westerners can be very loud and rowdy too, especially when they're complaining about the food, as if no one can hear him or her. The thing with Asians is if the food is good, we don't compliment but we will recommend to others, if the food is bad, we don't complain but we make a mental note never to go there again or even recommend it so the western culture, like the French to see the head chef and give comments is almost non-existent in Asia, especially Malaysia)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

TRAVELLING
(True, very true for Asians who takes more pictures than look at the scenery. Like the Chinese says, we travel like refugees, fast, pose, take picture, see and go!)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

HANDLING OF PROBLEMS
(Well I suppose westerners are more direct whilst Asians avoids the problems?)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

THREE MEALS A DAY
(I don't get the western perspective. What does it mean?)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

TRANSPORTATION
(Very true, especially in China)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

ELDERLY IN DAY TO DAY LIFE
(Spot on! Westerners often go holidays when they're elderly, ours spend their times taking care of grandchildren for busy children who may or may not pay their parents. The problem with Asian culture is the assumption that all elderly people likes, wants and loves to take care of their grandchildren)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

MOOD AND WEATHER
(so is this good or bad for Asians? I don't get it)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

THE BOSS
(Spot on! And this works also for those in the service industry, where is the customer is a westerner, they're treated like royalty, locals like we are not worth their time, especially in Malaysia)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

WHAT'S TRENDY
(Very true and he forgotten one important thing that is prevalent in all TVB series when it comes to supposed trendy people- wine glass!)
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

THE CHILD
(Are we too protective of our child? Maybe that is why we have less cases of children killing parents or taking guns to school and gunning other people down in Asia because we don't believe in less is more or free reign is better than controlled discipline? That we believe in caning the naughty ones instead of talking reasons because parents should be parents and not best friends?)

Heath Ledger through the eyes of Christopher Nolan
Permanent link  Post a Comment  4 comments

As I read Christopher Nolan's tribute to Heath Ledger at Newsweek, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness. This is perhaps this year's most shocking death because it was totally unexpected. Whilst the news guys were writing obituaries for Britney Spears, expecting her to die soon, and I myself thought if any star is dying young , it must be Amy Winehouse, here suddenly we heard news of a young actor, seemingly clean and no hanky panky just dropped dead. We will know why later, rather than just speculate why and how, it just felt empty. I am not a fan of his, I am perhaps very critical about him and his performance in Brokeback Mountain and all the nominations but still only 28 and just gone like that. Do read what Nolan has to say because you can read from his words he was deeply affected by his death. That would make his performance in The Dark Knight even scarier but maybe a tribute of what could have been.

So far I have yet to read any statements from Ang Lee and the likes. Maybe they too were very shocked and needed time to understand, to find some sense in this senseless death. Perhaps Heath Ledger may be very respected and famous if he didn't die so young but the fact that he did and so unexpected and all with his career going upwards with the role of the Joker, I can only say he is probably immortalised by his death. Not that that is a good thing. Who would want to leave this world at the top of the game, so young and with a young child?

I just hope Christopher Nolan would release The Dark Knight the way he would have if Heath Ledger didn't die instead of trying to change the perspective since the best way to remember Heath is to honour him through his work, as intended. No need to soften any blow. Let this be his final goodbye the way he knew it; by giving the performance of his career, by releasing a cut of the movie as it was originally planned.

It is sad. I am too affected. Disturbed in fact.

 ASTRO TV DRAMA AWARDS 2007
Permanent link  Post a Comment  2 comments

I saw the show and it was a very long one. Quite a lot of stars turned up, quite a lot didn't. The show's format is almost the same as TVB's own awards show and credibility was much better except for the last award that had me in total disbelief. It was like delivering pork but I was very happy to watch FINALLY Wayne Lai won for the supporting category and for the most memorable scene in Safe Guards. He was eloquent although he looked very uncomfortable. But hey he is sharing the limelight with the uber popular. So very happy.

The show was highlighted by some saucy dancing by Bosco Wong but Michael Tse almost dropped the female dancer. Well he danced without much energy although he looked like he was classically trained. Very thin also.

Another highlight was the very aloof and cool Kevin Cheng when singing the most favourite themesong with another singer (a contestant with the ASTRO talent show I think - awful singers by the way), when at fist he looked really uptight, almost arrogant but more cold than arrogant, he suddenly took the girl's hands, held it tight and in the end even gave her a kiss on the cheek!

Surprisingly it was Raymond Lam who was really cool with the attention and remained warm and quite friendly. Handsome also whilst Bosco was jovial as well. Angela Tong was gorgeous, so was Sonija Kwok who both dressed tastefully whilst Lai Suen got much attention that night with Chung King Fai and Roger remained composed and professional whilst Charmaine was laughing all the way although she seemed so very aloof in the beginning. She did give a lucky fan a warm hug. And he hair was horrible although I must say she seems very very comfortable with Raymond Lam, constantly laughing and talking to him. On stage she gave to me the most honest quote of the night "If you don't vote for me next year I won't come to he ceremony!". Well fans of Charmaine Sheh, vote!

Gigi Lai won Most Favourite Actress, a bit of a surprise for me although it was nice to see Lai Suen giving her the award since she is her aunt. Lai Suen gave the longest speech actually and poor Gigi looked like she didn't know whether to cry, laugh or just interrupt. But she was very graceful and pretty although not very eloquent and didn't strike me as someone sharp.

I didn't see the others but I was just very happy for Safe Guards. The biggest winner had to be Kevin Cheng who went on stage 3 or 4 times.

No shows were Moses Chan and some very prominent ones.

Now the BIGGEST surprise of the night was Most Favourite Drama. When Forensic Heroes was announced the winner, did you hear the almost total silence from the crowd? I mean when Wayne Lai won there was MORE applause than when Forensic Heroes won! It was like just a few claps. I was so shocked it even won because none of the stars were in any other categories if I remember correctly. Well the pork finally got distributed evenly.

I am sure most fans forgot to vote for the drama because they thought must vote for actress, actor, scenes, songs, etc. Frankly for me the best of 2007 on ASTRO was Safe Guards. I was hoping Steven Ma might win but alas... he didn't. But at least Wayne Lai got his moment in glory and he was very witty too.

Now the hosts. Why Chui Ling and Ah Lek? Why? Last year was them but it was horrible. Ah Lek nearly insulted one of the guest presenter by calling her fat (although he did brilliantly turned the potentially humiliating insulting comment into something witty) and fans of Roman Tam and Anita Mui should be very insulted with their parody of these 2 DEAD stars. Didn't they get the memo? It is not funny to make fun of the dead, 2 who died from illness, one tragically young and the other too soon. Worst was Chui Ling, who is as much as a host as a tree can sing, she further insulted Anita Mui when she said she must changed into something else (when dressing as Anita Mui) during the commercials because she looked like a mad woman. Very classy. Unintentional true but hosts should be witty, not insulting funny. Leave that to comedians. Can't we have proper hosts?

And of course the side shows with nobodies reenacting the scenes from certain series. The one that got the biggest applause was our ASTRO's "WATCH ALREADY LAR!" guy which I suppose only Malaysians would get the joke. The sketches were insulting to the stars and not very surprising the stars gave obligatory laughter, not even sincerely laughing. The presenters were mostly participants in the game show about TVB series. I must applaud their bravado, the way they almost stole the limelight from the hosts and the winner of the game show did steal the limelight from Raymond Lam when she was presenting him an award, he presented her with the award and she gave a very interestingly arrogant speech but in good fun. Raymond even quipped when he saw her award was gold in colour and his was silver "Why she got gold and mine silver?". They should have given her the award later or earlier because Raymond got robbed of his limelight.

The hosts also were horrible in terms of hosting itself. Where in the world have hosts interrupting winners giving speeches by asking or insinuating stupid things like gossips and such? Why can't they just let them talk instead of they talk and then waited for the moment they would be asked about this or that rumours?

There are many good things about following famous format of the other big sister award show that is TVB but sometimes it helps to be original. Either make it wacky fun like MTV awards that does not take itself seriously or make it like People's Choice Awards where it is serious. Don't be like serious, not serious with parodies and such. Don't we have comedians? Why must be segegrate the languages? Why can't we have otehr races come one and speak jokes to fill in the time? Or at least something clever even if it is not original?

Again there is no recognition in the awards which I feel bad for Wayne Lai because I feel this has more credibility than TVB awards. But it was marred by those stupid sketches, inept hosts, insulting scripts and of course having the presenters dressing as famous characters. If I were to choose, can I be Ko Wa from Land Of Wealth instead of Roger Kwok's character Ah Wong? I cringe as these presenters had to pretend or you may call act but they were awful but at least they had the good nature and good fun so really kudos to the presenters for showing much class even in the face of being made fun of.

Next year can we have Onn Tak Jun? I remember seeing him live and he really engaged the audience, he was graceful, witty, overall a great host who knew when to say something funny and when to know that funny isn't that funny anymore. And another lady host please. Just because she could speak good cantonese (well she is from HK) doesn't make her a good host. And get better writers instead of those inept ones who successfully insulted almost all section of society tonight. Revamp all that and perhaps this award show may be worth the reputation as something the stars will feel reluctant not to be there instead of one jokingly said "If you don't vote for me next year I won't come to the ceremony". No one says that to the Oscars.

Possibly the most shocking news of all and I thought maybe april fool's joke but this is january! Heath Ledger is dead, 28 and promising and dead. Cause unknown, possibly substance abuse, possibly accident by swallowing too much sleeping pills? I don't know. Shocking, unbelievably shocking. So young.

Coming soon and oh please be here soon..
Permanent link  Post a Comment  9 comments

Other than the new Stephen Chow movie and Defiance & Flashbacks Of A Fool, Ah Long Pte Ltd is my most eagerly awaited movie. All 3 have released their trailers. Since I haven't posted anything for a very long time (eh 1 week is long ok?!) I thought I might just give my 60 cents worth (at least higher than 50 cents)...

Ah Long Pte Ltd

Frankly if not for Fann Wong, I don't think I will this interesting although anything about Ah Longs will be very relevant to us Malaysians. But let me take a big guess; the ah longs will retire and do another job. Jack Neo's movies always end with a moral note. Oh yeah, whilst Mark Lee is a fine comedian actor, I can't help but feel Xie Shaoguang will be perfect for this effiminate role since he really nailed it in Holland V. A pity he retired. Why? Why did he retire? Fann looks pretty even with minimal makeup although I can't understand why a madam of a triad would marry an effiminate dancer.

CJ7

Revealed very little. Stephen Chow's trailers are always very very short, not very informative but any fans of Stephen Chow would now he will hit gold. I love him more since he had the clout to make the movies he wants to make. The kid looks cute, it looks funny, I love the part where he said to the kid "Why you act like you just took drugs?". Witty lines and I suppose a story about aliens? He has always been brilliant in mixing special effects with the story. I am waiting for this like really really waiting.

Defiance

Any story about the brutality of nazi and the struggles of the Jews duing WWII and those who bravely saved them is always a good watch, and a very emotional one too. Since this is based on true story, a bit dramatised perhaps but however dramatised I am sure the real events are more harrowing. Daniel Craig perhaps looks a bit too handsome and his accent a bit sometimes there, sometimes not but he is always very very charismatic. At least he is not playing the bad guys. And there's Jamie Bell all grown up.

Which reminds me of Brad Renfro. What a wasted life, a wasted talent. I was so shocked to read that he died at the age of 25 and I could still remember him when he was little as I think the movie The Client. Hopefully Haley Joel Osment or even Freddie Highmore won't turn up like that. Look at Daniel Craig, so normal, so rich and very much alive.

WALL• E
By Pixar! Can they go one up Ratatouille? I am sure they could looking at the teaser trailer. Cute robot, looks a bit like ET mixed with that robot from Short Circuit. But I am sure the story would be moving as it is entertaining. Although Pixar may make 3D animated feature they never sacrifice the story and this one I am very sure will be just as great as the others. In fact Meet The Robinsons was great, graphics and especially the story. I love the ending. "Keep moving forward". Always catchy taglines. Like Finding Nemo, "There are 3.7 trillion fish in the ocean*, they're looking for one" was probably the best. I was intrigued. And WALL• E? "After 700 years of doing what he was built for - he'll discover what he's meant for". A great one. This is a story about destiny and I always love an underdog story.

Ohhhhh Pixar! My animation god, Pixar! Of course I look forward to other animations too, except by Dreamworks. They're not bothered with stories, just pop culture references and that is just plain boring.

No trailer for Flashbacks of a fool yet. I also look forward to The Dark Knight but I don't like and will never like and have never liked Heath Ledger. Christian Bale a big yes, Heath Ledger a big no. Atonement? Zzzzzzzz because of Keira Knightly, the most overrated actress ever since she is nominated and stuff. She single handedly (well with the help with the awful director who didn't understand a word of Jane Austen's classic Pride & Prejudice, and he didn't read it either) destroyed the character of Elizabeth Bennet and turned it into Little Women instead of the Bennet family. She is a fine person outside but she is a horrible actress. Why do people like her so much? Kate Winslet was so much better. She really made a mediocre, in fact a rather dumb movie like The Holiday into something enjoyable.

Anyway what's your most awaited movie?

Forgot one more. Bond 22. Did you see the new Bond girls? Exotic isn't enough to describe them. Hopefully can act. And oh so thin. I hope they don't go back to the old Bond and have JAmes Bond sleeping with another woman after the love of his life Vesper Lynd just died like what? Days ago?

Eh really I haven't been posting much eh? No posts also even in the Shout Box. Why so quiet? Even my Land Of Wealth episodic thoughts is so quiet. Granted I didn't have much to say... but well... so quiet...

Ermm so many Hollywood stars pregnant, like Nicole Kidman, Jessica Alba. What about Chinese stars? Ada Choi just got married. Will she too be pregnant this year? Ahhh we shall know... soon...

I just added some new posts in Fashion & Trends as well as Photoshoot. It is actually the same post but doubles to show what's in my wardrobe and also the photoshoot at my most favourite SL island. Do have a look, plenty of nice pictures that took me forever to make and also some very nice dresses that are free. How I hope real life (that is RL) is also like that in second life (that is SL).

ASTRO TV Awards 2008 & Charmaine Sheh
Permanent link  Post a Comment  2 comments

There is some connection between the two but mainly, I bought the Star Newspaper today and there was a pullout, Star Special - Body, Mind & Soul and guess who was on the cover? Yes, Charmaine Sheh herself. I think I saw the picture before at Sehseh's Blog, that is Terimee ad but quite surprised to see her so big in the cover. Inside there's a short article on Terimee.

Anyway saw the statistics last night on Wah Lai Toi. Most Favourite Actor right now seems to be Moses Chan, I think Steven Ma is 2nd. I hope to see Steven Ma win simply because I love Safe Guards. But I doubt that. For Most Favourite Actress, Myolie Wu is winning, 2nd is Sheren Teng but the 3rd Charmaine Sheh. Charmaine and Sheren I believe are quite close but between 1st and 3rd place, the gap is quite big. But who knows, there may be a surge of votes. Frankly this is a popularity contest and really fans, vote vote vote.

One I want to see win is Wayne Lai but as usual I think his chances is doomed. I want Safe Guards to win but again seems doomed. The audiences will surely vote for favourite stars/series PLUS recent in memory and it seems Land Of Wealth may just be the winner since it is just showing. And why is it included into the list is beyond my comprehension.

So have you been voting?

 Is pretty the new ugly?
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

I was in Second Life, sitting there minding my own business. My avatar is fully and properly dressed, hair perfectly in place with a jade hair pin as well, with my make up on and with nice shoes and jewelery. I went to sleep as my avatar camps for some cash. In the morning I woke up and I realised I got a notecard (like a note from some other avatar) which get this.... invited me to join the Uglist Avatar competition for a chance to win L$500!!! I was immediately insulted. Ugliest? My Funn Jewell? Hardly. Maybe not the prettiest. I mean there are supermodel avatars in SL by the way, believe it or not so my avatar does not have the budget for better skin, better hair, better make up and such. But I am proud of my avatar. She was first an avatar from The L Word Orientation Island. I tweaked, I changed, and stuff to make her look as she is now. Still in the process of course. I used to be very ambitious, ended up with her being over 6 feet 3 inches tall and terribly skinny with really shirt hands and weird anime eyes. I toned it down, she is now 5 feet 11 inches (considered small in SL because others are basically 6 feet 6 inches tall for girls and 8 feet tall for guys), with a normal waist line, long legs that are muscular, strong shoulder, normal length neck, not so high nose, high cheekbones, toned down eyes (less anime, more human) and a small, not so thick but quite nice lips. She used to look like someone with black lips, china dill eyes, white nose and a really weird face but now, she looks ok. So ugliest is a bit too much. At least I created her looks.

Never had I been so insulted in my life; just because I don't know who said that doesn't mean that person can be rude. Ugliest? HARDLY!!

Go check out my Funn Jewell at Funn In Second Life and you tell me, is pretty the new ugly? Is gorgeous the new pretty?

 Is genius a brain defect?
Permanent link  Post a Comment  9 comments

I was reading online about Asperger's Syndrome, because I read Bill Gates, my hero may have it as he has very inadequate social skills, he is a tech obssessed whiz, he rocks back and forth when nervous (or has a tendency to do that) and he doesn't look at people in the eyes when he is talking to them. There were other speculation as well, from Albert Einstein to Thomas Jefferson to Vincent Van Gogh to Isaac Newton and even Mahatma Gandhi!! And Mozart too. Basically anyone who is extremely driven in their chosen field, has problems connecting with people and avoids socializing with people, except with closest of the closest friends.

For example;

"For example, they were clueless when their audience was becoming bored as they lectured about obscure subjects like growing peas, deep fat fryers or Richard III. They did not notice that people were yawning, looking at clocks, or trying to switch the topic. In addition, although the children could memorize facts about their subjects, they often had little understanding of it. For example, a certain child knew every obscure fact about the lives of U.S. Presidents and had no grasp of American history. They tended to be overly logical and rigid, sometimes moralistic in their viewpoints. They had trouble understanding metaphors. If a mother said, "I'm going to hop down to the store," her son with Asperger Syndrome expected her to leap like a rabbit."

Hmmm... so our teachers in Malaysia has asperger's? Because that kinda describe them. As for the children, maybe that's because as children they can grasp facts and details but their brain has yet to grasp logic and analysis of facts to form a coherent opinion? Aren't children supposed to be idealistic hence moralistic? Some children are devils but maybe sometimes they don't understand the consequence. Also it depends on age as well. And I can't understand metaphors also. Maybe some kids or adults simply do not have the power of imagination, connection between two words or perhaps a sense of humour? I am not disputing the existence of such a condition but the way it is defined, it might as well be everybody and anybody. There are manu more symptoms in the link I provided but most seems rather dodgy.

Asperger's is someone with mild autism. Not as serious as those with autism but not normal either. So they're genius or extremely smart people who has problems but can function in society. Aren's these people called eccentrics? Loners? Painfully shy individuals? Because if an asperger is like Bill Gates or even Albert Einstein, wouldn't parents say let my child be like that; really smart and yet functional in the real world? Isn't that too much speculation?

This is as if to say genius is a brain abnormality but a good one. I don't buy that. So nerds are weird, true. Highly driven and successful people are strange, true. Smart genius are sometimes socially inept, maybe true. Why not? These are individuals are so motivated at their work, so obssessed, so into what they're trying to discover, maybe, just maybe having friends isn't at the top of their priority? Is a loner, an eccentric, a shy person who is also extremely smart and is successful in theor chosen fields automatically means his brain is something wrong? So us normal people are what?

What about people like Lindsay Lohan who loves sex, loves booze, seeks to do thrilling things to the point of destroying their own career and themselves? Or Britney Spears? What are they? Any disease or defect in their brain? Just normal AND stupid?

I don't buy the whole Asperger thing unless it is proven. The westerners have a name for every single disease or strange characteristics in the world. Isn't that some form of discrimination? Would Bill Gates come forward and admit "Hey I got Asperger's. I may be mildly autistic" now that his special traits are identified as that? I highly doubt that. ANd if Bill Gates deny it, well there's a medical term for that; Anosognosia which means denying that you have a medically diagnosed condition and not following doctors' orders. What about stubborn and ignorant and stupid and suicidal? Or maybe there isn't a condition to admit to?

 Role play in Second Life
Permanent link  Post a Comment  1 comments

Look, I have seen orgies and stuff in Second Life but I was shocked to find child avatars when I was looking for more info on make ups and avatars online. Frankly I have never seen a child avatar before when I was in world and to my shock some months ago there was a major complain on Linden Lab when some pictures emerged that shows an adult avatar having sex with a child avatar. Both were adults in real life playing a role. They were banned. But the question is is it unlawful to have 2 consenting adults doing role playing via their online representation? I don't know. I am not for and I am not against. I am sickened by it but I can see the argument against the ban since they're adults in real life.

Then I read about rape in Second Life, where one person reported to the police being raped in Second Life by another avatar. I was like HUH? Can you get raped in Second Life? I mean can't she just teleport away or go offline? So far I have never encountered a script in world where an avatar is automatically stripped off clothes and raped and yet can't log off Second Life. I don't think technology hasn't gone that far yet. So where is the rape? They must be consenting adults then.

What is going on? I know of bondage role play, threesomes, etc but never the above. Maybe I haven't been to the "wrong" place. I must have a look, if not I will never believe it.

Which is why I am very proud of my Funn In Second Life which aims to promote healthy aspects of Second Life. A kiss or online sex is fine, I may in fact write an article on that but sex with a boy avatar is not my idea of fun. I'd rather go ride a horse which reminds me to find a horse attachment. That would be fun like one of the pictures I took of a male avatar riding a very beautiful horse at Solana Nude Beach.

 And so he resigned ...
Permanent link  Post a Comment  1 comments

An update to my post HERE about a certain sex tape involving our Health Minister and his "personal friend" where I boldly declared he would be fine politically and I was so very wrong. The consequence was that he resigned eventhough he said he would not and I suppose our big boss just told him to just leave.

Which means our Malaysian politics and accountability amonsgt civil servants and politicians are like these based on past experience...

1. Never be suspected having sex with a man (at least destroy the matress you did the deed on); and

2. Never be caught baving sex with a woman.

And so you can continue building your buckingham palace replicas and suspisciously earn loads of money or better yet, give insulting stupid remarks about everyone else other than oneself.

Now that is difficult right? Because what is man's basic needs? No not money! Not even power! SEX! Oh dear, pity them. Must be very difficult to be a politician here.

Anyway, there is an ongoing investigation on the source of the sex tape and reportedly, and in true Malaysian fashion in handling a crisis, the police are investigation and arresting

1. those who made the tape

2. those who distributed the tapes

3. those found in possession of the tapes

Which means almost the entire population of Malaysia will be arrested soon save for infants and recently deceased individuals. Why make such a huge probe into this incident? Yes it is an invasion of privacy, and so was Watergate. Yes it is unethical but so is releasing celebrity sex tapes and I didn't hear a word on any investigations into those incidents. Yes it is perhaps politically motivated, out to destroy the credibility of a very important man in a very important party at a most crucial moment.

But look at it this way.

He was caught with his pants down. What more can he do or say? What more should he do and say? What more would he have to do and say?

Absolutely nothing except to take it like a responsible elected public figure and resign. But that does not stop our Boss from appointing him the Minister again next time after this has died down. I think this was what Tony Blair did before.

He is said to be a clean minister. Ironic isn't it? A clean minister who is a Health Minister caught in a rather sleazy dirty sex tape. What to do? It teaches many to wise up I suppose. Politics has evolved from serving the good of the people to serving the good of yourself and the party and a wise politician should always ensure there are no eletrical whatever in a room when having sex with his personal friend or at least stop having sex in a hotel or other people's place.

A pity.

Malaysian politics : Opening the year with a bang
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

What a bang. Maybe a few bangs since I haven't seen it. I am sure you must have heard about the sex tape featuring a prominent Malaysian minister and his "personal friend", which is the term he used. He admitted the sex romp in a hotel so there's no need to hide his identity. That man is none other than 60 year old Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek. He has apologised publicly, his family has vowed to stand by him and he is not resigning. Now is for the big boss to decide if he goes or stays.

The debate rages on if he should resign or not.

NOT!

Instead our papers reported he was not making a police report yet, that the tape was leaked to damage his reputation and that our minister is not sure when the tape was made.

So he is actually saying ...

1. he is not resigning

2. affair? so what, no big deal, just sex with a personal friend. That term will be the catch phrase of 2008; personal friend...

3. the sex in the sex tape was not the 1st since he can't remember when it was made so it must mean there must be more than once.

4. plus he is 60, so that is a testament how healthy our Malaysian men are.

Truth be told, when Clinton was hit with the same scandal, he didn't resign. Everybody acknowledged this minister is a good minister so why should he resign? And of course as usual instead of questioning his moral standing the press has tried to divert the attention to the culprit recording the "exercise" regime of our very healthy and virile minister which is beside the point. Whether a rival is trying to kill off his career or not is not the main point. The main point is he did something that is morally irresponsible and a person so morally and openly corrupt can't be trusted to lead the nation. That is the very basis of politics. Of course nowadays people don't care. What happens in the bedroom and personal lives of our public figures stays private as long as his on the job performance is as virile as his private moments with his personal friend.

Do you agree?

Maybe elsewhere in the world I will disagree but in Malaysia where we have public figures openly flaunting their million dollar mansion when no way someone in that position could have that kind of money to build such mansion and still escape any investigation, more so arrest, what is happenening to this minister is to me a small matter. One can of course curb one's greed but I guess a different standard applies to one's libido. Call me a cynic; he won't get fired and accountability will be a non issue. If he has been honest, hardworking and approachable as a minister for his people, I would say let him stay. I have seen worse done and getting away with it.

But how I wish the standards of politicians worldwide would be a throwback to the real philosophy of it; that the person representing the people whould possess the moral values that one is expected to possess; that a man lacking in morals, be it about money, sex or values should not be in politics because if a man can be seduced by greed, power or sex will certainly betray his own conscience and will be lost in the lack of moral values.

That does not exist now of course. Nowadays politics is presenting the best face forward and anything not remotely over the top (say for example BDSM in the sex tape or sex with a young adult) I am sure the PR department will spin the tale and divert the attention.

Which is what the Malaysian press is doing. But look at the bright side; at least he admitted it. He didn't say that tape was doctored. So really acceptance is the first step towards forgiveness. So that is a good thing. And if he were to offer his resignation, that would be better because he holds himself accountable and that is a responsible thing to do. Frankly I don't see that happening unless our boss asks him to resign by saying he himself is resigning, to save him and the party some face.

To think that the one caught with his pants down is a Chinese... nothing about race but definitely it will be a lesson learnt; be careful lar next time.

 HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!!
Permanent link  Post a Comment  4 comments

I am a big fan of cook shows over at AFC (CH 703 on ASTRO) and I just found the perfect poem to express my wish to myself and to YOU,

RECIPE FOR A HAPPY NEW YEAR
Take twelve whole months.
Clean them thoroughly of all bitterness,
hate, and jealousy.
Make them just as fresh and clean as possible.
Now cut each month into twenty-eight, thirty, or thirty-one different parts,
but don't make up the whole batch at once.
Prepare it one day at a time out of these ingredients.
Mix well into each day one part of faith,
one part of patience, one part of courage,
and one part of work.
Add to each day one part of hope,
faithfulness, generosity, and kindness.
Blend with one part prayer, one part meditation,
and one good deed.
Season the whole with a dash of good spirits,
a sprinkle of fun, a pinch of play,
and a cupfull of good humor.
Pour all of this into a vessel of love.
Cook thouroughly over radient joy,
garnish with a smile,
and serve with quietness, unselfishness,
and cheerfulness.
You're bound to have a happy new year.

-- Author Unknown [Source]

And so my hope for the new year? A better year, a much much much better the year than I had in 2007 but then when 2009 is here I will be saying that about 2008. To all of you I wish you a great year ahead and if sh*t happens, remember the 2 most important methods in life to have you get going again;

1. stand back up again and walk on; AND

2. visit this website for a bit of cheer.

Well no. 1 is fool proof but no. 2 is for your consideration.

Since the new year is here, I am on new year's eve you all must be ...

... the night away whilst I sleep...

I am getting old. But to all young and young at hearts...

TV NOW
So what's on TV these days? With so many Asian channels on ASTRO, it would be appropriate to compile a list here for your reference. Here is a list of Asian shows being broadcast via ASTRO Malaysia in the prime time slot which includes local terrestrial channels. More info below.
MORE INFO

The number indicated next to the channel title is the ASTRO channel number and the time is Malaysian time (+8.00GMT).

Titles with means there are reviews for this title in our database. Check the relevant section for the said reviews.

The list includes productions from China [Ch], Singapore [Sg], Malaysia [Mas], Taiwan [Tw], Korea [Kr], Japan [Jp]

Some channels are dedicated channels meaning for example WLT [Ch 311], TVB8 [Ch 311] and TVB9 [Ch 311} broadcasts 100% TVB productions which will include series produced somewhere else but the rights bought by TVB, HDD [Ch 333] which broadcasts Taiwanese productions in 100% Fujian/Hokkien dialect, which will sometime include shows that were dubbed into the said dialect and KBS [Ch 322] which broadcasts Korean productions which will include foreign productions dubbed into Korean. Since KBS is a production house, I can only assume the series broadcasts will be exclusively KBS productions unless KBS bought the rights to broadcast the respective titles.

Titles where its origin is not indicated means it is HKTVB production.

D means is dubbed, DL means Dual Language, M means Mandarin, K means Korean, C means Cantonese and E means English.

So if you see ... (a) Title A [Kr][D-DL-CM] in WLT [Ch 311], it means Title A is a Korean series broadcast in Wah Lai Toi (TVB) channel where you'll find it is a 100% dubbed series with dual language where Cantonese is the prime language and Mandarin the 2nd language. Yes, even if it is a Korean series some channels may completely dub over it with 2 language choices. (b)Title A [Kr] in KBS [Ch 322], it means this Title A is a Korean series broadcast over at KBS channel and it offers only one language that is its language of origin, Korean with not alternative choice of language since it is not Dual Language. (c) Title A [Kr][D-M], it means Title A is a Korean series which has been completely dubbed into Mandarin. It also means there will not be any original language since it has been dubbed over. (d) Title A [Kr][DL-KC], it means Title A is a Korean series which offers dual language choice, Korean being the prime language with Cantonese as the dubbed version. Hence you won't see D as in Dubbed in it since one of the language is the original language and most probably the one being broadcast will be the original language and you must switch on the dubbed version.

All shows listed are subtitled in Malay for terresterial channels whilst exclusive ASTRO channels will sometimes have English and Chinese subtitles in addition to Malay subtitles.
