You as a reader can now rate the review you're reading! Yes, like we the reviewers rate the production title, you now can rate our review. If
you feel it is badly written, give it the lowest rate. If it is the most informative and very well written, you can give it a max 5 star
rating. Be honest now! Just because we diss your favourite star doesn't mean we deserve nothing & just because we lavish praises doesn't mean
we should get 5. Rate us because you feel it is well written, structural wise and on how much info you could get from that review.
For those who hates writing full length review and yet wants to comment on a title without having to post it in some other review, you can now
write your own short reviews! All short reviews will be collected and combined into one special page with Opinion as the indicator.
It is not a form but a comments type page so you can always delete your comments and rewrite a new one. Check out the links in all reviews
section under the big green title, SHORT REVIEWS POST HERE.
Check out Funn In Second Life, my avatar, Funn Jewell's own blog on her travels, her fashion mishaps & many more tales from Second Life.
Want to meet up and chat? You can now propose a gathering and I'll do the announcement. From time to time I too will organize some chat sessions in
Habbo Malaysia. Check out the details under the top panel, MEET & CHAT
Came across this site where you use 2 or 3 images and morph them together after setting some important face points. Tedious but fun. If the picture is right it can be pretty awesome. I did 2 where I didn't use good pictures but you can imagine the results.
I used Charmaine Sheh and Fann Wong's pictures. I couldn't find a nice face on picture of Charmaine but well the result... let's look at the pictures first ..
The results ...
Looks like Mandy Cho!!
Tried again, this time I used...
The results?
Quite pretty don't you think? Like some Chinese actress. You see Fann's lips and Charmaine's eyes.
What about with a man then? Could Fann or Charmaine make a handsome man? So I tried Daniel Craig.
The results is a rather freaky but somewhat pretty looking man with make up!!!
Charmaine's turn.
Same Daniel Craig's picture with same Charmaine not smiling picture.
Very pretty man! Maybe Charmaine should consider blue contacts because quite stunning!!
You know if done right, the morphed pictures can look like the ones here!
Why don't you give it a try? Do show me the results!
It is amazing what sort of data can be collected whenever you access a site. Take for example my Land Of Wealth episodic thoughts. I just checked the counter details provided for free by sitemeter.com and there I looked at the not so short and really not that long list of those who logged into that site, especially the location. Let me reproduce here via screencaps...
Since that blog only started yesterday I can assume all the above were from yesterday's visit. I can discount the KL ones since that should be me. But who are the rest? Such as the one from Philidelphia, California, Sheffield, etc? Or are these just short stopover? Care to introduce yourself?
I read the headlines on The Star Newspaper and I was shocked. Never expected this, at least not that soon. This is definitely 2007's no. 1 headline and what a way to end the year. What a way to end a life. Suicide bomber taking 20 others with her. Why did she come back when she could have just live in a life of luxury. I am not her fan or her supporter but this is not a way to end. But the bright side is maybe this will bring about some changes. It is quite disheartening to read about someone who died in such a way, especially someone whom you have read about day in and day out since you were little. Shocking.
I have been planning this for a very long time but in the end thanks to Wordpress I finally got it going. It is a blog dedicated to travel and leisure in Second Life with Funn Jewell as my alter ego. You will find plenty of pictures, slideshows, etc. A pity I don't know how to record the sounds because they're quite authentic. For my first travel tale, I have chosen a rather interesting destination. The format is simple. There are several chosen thumbnail pictures to accompany my article, plus a realy cool slideshow of the entire collection for that destination and a link to the photo album to those who wishes to have close look at the various pictures. None of these requires registration and you will see the updates in Home itself so there are no need for any announcement whatsoever. Since this is a standalone website, all future notices will be added in that itself and not here, except for urgent matters. I hope to read your comments and if you have any recommended place in Second Life, do tell me. The link can be found in Site-seeing and it is called Funn In Second Life.
This is a notice actually. I will be doing an episodic thoughts on the TVB series Land Of Wealth which is starting on Thursday 27.12.2007 until the final episode, 32 episodes later. It will be updated daily from Monday to Friday after midnight and so no updates notices will be posted. This series will be broadcast on ASTRO Wah Lai Toi (Ch 311) from Thurs onwards at 9.30pm replacing CIB. I would appreciate your feedback as well as your help in completing certain episode summary and especially the cast list. The URL is
http://landofwealth.point2e.com
But it is not available yet. Will be available Thursday onwards. Hope to see a lively discussion on this series which looks pretty interesting.
I was looking for some inspirational poems about Christmas but instead I found the following quote, in glitter. I must say, I couldn't agree more.
To a proper greeting to all and I dedicate it to all my friends, my family and especially to YOU who visits this site with your unending support, for reading my reviews, for your comments, for your presence and last but not least, for your friendship. I refuse to name names but you know who you are.
I have a list of people I know All written in a book And every year at Christmastime I go and take a look And that is when I realize That those names are a part Not of the book they're written in But of my very heart For each name stands for someone Who has crossed my path some time And in that meeting they've become A treasured friend of mine And once you've met some people The years can not erase The memory of a pleasant word Or a friendly face So when I send a Christmas card That is addressed to you It's because you're on that list Of folk I'm indebted to And you are one of many folk who In times past I've met And happen to be one of those I don't want to forget And whether I have known you for Many years or few In some way you have a part in Shaping things I do This, the spirit of Christmas, that Forever and ever endures May it leave it richest blessing In the hearts of you and yours.
This is shown over prime time TV? Granted it was slowed down by the fans but my God, this series will have ratings hitting the roof, even if Joe Cheng mysteriously became the much handsome version of Peter Ho, all the guys have long hair, the story is the same and Ariel Lin, much prettier in here.....
By the way this is It Started With A Kiss 2. The following is the TMO.
Internet addiction and work do not go hand in hand, at all. So why the title? What if you're already addicted to internet and you have FULL access at work?
I am having that right now. I know there are no emails for me and yet I will check my Outlook every 10 min even if I was busy typing a document. I know I am not supposed to download stuff into my computer for security sake but when I found out there isn't much security in the 1st place, I ended up loading my computer with extra security and features. I know I can access the WWW at home for hours and hours which I do and yet here I am typing this whilst having lunch.
Internet addiction and work do not go together and it just means I have sunk deeper into my obsession. And yet I visit the same site which updates maybe once a day, I even visit my own website even when I know I am not updating it at the moment.
Why? Is there a cure? Can I stop myself? I am happy that I am not downloading torrents since very little space available but you know the temptation is there. All the time. I must cease and desist. I must only check the email and websites and nothing else. Even if I may be doing it every 10 min.
Work! Must be productive! Internet connection is for work, not for play!
Somehow I found the following two emails really funny. I just can't help but laugh and it did brighten up my day a little bit. Hopefully it will do the same for you. The text in italics are exactly like the contents in the emails.
TEAM WORK MEANS ... Click on the thumbnail to see the image in its original size. Is your company like that?! For me no but rather it kinda define my country's officials like that.

I made a huge error as to the date in the first announcement to which I have amended the Meet & Chat Panel. I don't think any of you noticed at all which means..sighhhh... doomed for failure. Anyway it is this Friday 21.12.2007 and not 22.12.2007 which is Saturday. The time remains the same. Friday, not Saturday. Thank you and please do come.
Or is Saturday 22.12.2007 better? Feedback please.
I have added a new category, Games in Reviews, particularly various games at Reflexive Arcade. I do download demo and full games once in a while at Reflexive Arcade and at times I will write a 2000 word review so yes, short and sweet. The reviews are posted in my personalised page at Reflexive Arcade, the link of which can be found in Reviews > Games. I hope you will enjoy reading them and download a game or two.
By the way, do check out Meet & Chat panel above. I hope to meet you all there.
Yep! Since the holidays are coming, I would like to organize a meet & chat with everyone interested in joining the fun! This is an open invitation and as you can see up there in the Meet & Chat panel, the date is 21.12.2007 [Friday] and the time is 10.45pm. This should be a good time for all. Check your local time if you're not in Malaysia. The theme is TVB series and general entertainment, so let us chat about everything! If you're new to this, please do the following:-
1. go to http://www.habbo.com.my/ (Habbo Malaysia, remember that)and register. It is free of charge and is open to all, not just Malaysians. Remember to choose a name all of us will recognise and a unique look.
2. Why Habbo Malaysia? Not much people so we won't get confused in there.
3. On the appointed day, log into your account and do the following:-
a. Click ENTER HABBO HOTEL (link at the top of the page) or ENTER HOTEL (next to your Habbo avatar somewhere down the page) and a new window will open.
b. Once the page is opened, look for PUBLIC PLACES (usually you're seeing the list of public places when you're logged in) and then find the public room known as ICE CAFE. It looks like this ...
c. You move around with your pointer/mouse, so just click and the avatar will move and click on a chair and it will sit there. You can sit anywhere and when chatting just type into the space provided and enter. Since it is a bit confusing, just make sure you familiarise yourself with the surroundings and more importantly due to computer lag, do make sure whoever is posting has finished posting before you post. This is not Second Life so it can be quite hectic. But once you're used to it, you will definitely love this medium.
d. once there, I should be there. My Habbo's name is FUNNlim and just in case I am late (which I was the last time), do wait around. Say hi and introduce yourself once you're there. I mean this is a public space so not all there are from this site you see, can be anyone you know. I will be sitting at the table for 8 if I am early and no one has taken that place yet.
Please confirm your attendance here by using Post A Comment or tag to the Shout Box. The last time we have I think 5 (including myself) so this time I hope more. Ask your other online friends to join in. After all the topic is very familiar to us all, that is general entertainment.
If the time is not suitable. please check out the Meet & Chat panel on top to suggest a new one before Tuesday [18.12.2007]. if not the appointed date is considered confirmed.
Never had I had this urgent need, this overwhelming desire to own something so urgently, so NOW NOW type of NOW! than when I saw the following in my email box. I WANT! And guess what? I want the food types one. I mean the diamonds are too expensive, too wasteful to waste it to decorate a USB drive, should decorate my neck or wrist. But the food... oh glorious food... where can I buy these in Malaysia? Anyone? Oh I WANTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The "I could never ever afford and I wouldn't want to buy anyway because a diamond should grace my wrist or finger, not some computer however much I love my computer" pendrives
The one on the left is according to the email worth $38,000 (I assume USD) because it has 350 white diamonds comes complete with a platinum chain.
The "cute but not my type" pendrives
The "gross" pendrives I mean teddy bear is cute but must the head be taken off? I mean that's just gross you know. Not cute at all.
The thumb somehow looks gross to me. I don't think I would want to touch that at all.
The "nostalgic" pendrives Being a big fan of Disney's since forever, I would buy the following, especially the mickey mouse pendrives because they look more like work of art rather than pendrives cute you know. I definitely would buy the Donald Duck version.
The "I MUST BUY THESE" pendrives Oh I could go bankrupt just by buying these. I mean I love food and anything with food as a theme, like rubber and all, I would buy even if they're obscenely expensive. Don't know why Sushi, even made of plastic still looks good and even as expensive! I can't decide between the pizza and all but I must say if I really had to choose.. it would have to be the sushi set unless they come up with a dim sum set or ramen set or claypot rice set or steak set or... oh fooooooooddddddd..... Oh these had me hyperventilating with excitement!! So beautiful and oh so cute!!
Now which of the above, if you could afford it, would you feel that you MUST have it NOW? Now be honest... that diamond thing right?
Ever since I saw that email with those possibly fake pictures of a very strange but fascinating looking fish, I became obsessed with deep sea fish. I was devastated when Pearl told me that is an Oar fish (though doesn't look like the one in those websites I found) and that the pictures taken so close and the fish alive may be fake. Truly and totally devastated. I don't know why I became so keen on that fish. I guess I always love to watch those documentaries about deep sea fish which until now I have yet to watch one that is truly good.
I checked out youtube and found this one that had some pretty freakly looking fish, sharks, etc. The experts apparently can't identify the fish and it was making sounds. But I read the scientists were very disappointed at the fishermen who caught it because instead of preserving it, guess what? THEY ATE IT! ATE IT! Are the Russians so hungry? So now Chinese no longer are the race that eats everything. It's the russians because such a weird looking fish and they still eat it! But do watch the video, fascinating. And guess what? It is actually a stingray type fish called guitarfish. It is only weird because it looks like that when turned upside down. Poor thing, crying probably.
Then I found one slide of more deep sea creatures! Why the scary music? A must watch!!
But fascinating isn't it? That deep under the ocean or maybe not so deep, there are such wonderfully weird looking creatures. There are also some really fantastic ones that I saw on Tv some time ago, where they shoot lights and all. And guess what? Bless Youtube! Found them! Must watch!!!!
Part 1
Part 2
I am sure they were narrated by my favourite "uncle", David Attenborough.
Anyway my frankenfish is still the prettiest looking even if it is fake. Deep sea creatures rarely are that colourful and the body is almost always oily looking as you could see in the video above.
If you have such videos to share or know of, do let me know. I want to find out more about such deep sea creatures, such mutated fish that time has forgotten or beautiful ones that somehow the world has yet to see.
I remember visiting the KLIA fish thingy and I totally freaked out over the big fish. Really BIGGGGGG fish. And I remember my family and I played with the small stingray, that was highly intelligent and reminded me of a dog. You go clapping and calling it and it will come to you! But small stingray of course. The sharks were huge but not THAT huge. But the tortoise, maybe the glass tanks were playing tricks on my eyes but I swear it was humongous! But the fish, oh my God!
Anyway any such videos about BIGGGGGG fish or weird fish or beautiful fish or even frankenfish? Give me the links please!
I received the following pictures in an email. It rocked me, it shocked me, it somehow made me very curious. Are these pictures real? It looked real. And anyway I am sure the fish is dead. I suspect it is a deep sea fish but it is too colourful to be one. It is just as beautiful as it is frightening. I don't know why I feel frightened by it, maybe because of its sheer size. It could be some pre historic fish. I included a supposed pre historic ancestor of this fish. If you have any information about this fish, or maybe its name, do post using Post A Comment. But I must say it is a very beautiful fish.
Ladies and gentlemen, I survived a fall today to tell you the tale. Oh yes. I was at Jaya Jusco Cheras Selatan. The escalator was turned off. So I was walking down this long escalator, in my coat plus a brand new shoes. Flat shoes mind you but quite slippery. Everything was fine until I reached the last step and I told myself be careful, be careful and guess what? Like life in slow motion, I found myself falling quite slowly and gracefully (I hope) whilst holding on to the escalator ermmm railing? Anyway I fell to my bum on the last step and flat side of the escalator, in full view of two stalls promoting credit cards and can't remember what else. Of course no one came to my aid eventhough I was like "aiyahhhh aiyahhh" but that was because in the split second it took me to fall on my bum, it took me half the time to stand back again, brushed off the dust and check my shoes and my bum and I simply walked away. I don't know the reaction but I must guess that they may be chuckling or sniggering at the fat slob. Anyway I am not hurt. Not hurt at all. My ample bum cushioned my fall and I fell on the right place at the right angle. I was wearing pants so I wasn't exposed. I checked and my pants did not rip. Surprisingly I didn't feel shame or shy or embarassed at all. In fact I felt absolutely nothing. Of course after I bought the ticket to The Golden Compass, I actually wanted to stop by Popular bookstore to see stuff but I kinda left immediately to avoid any ermmmm situation. But I didn't feel humiliated or tried to laugh it off. I just grimaced, went aiyahhh aiyahh and walked away. I supposed I am proud of myself. Moreover I kinda remembered the news about that woman who fell off the escalator trying to save her handphone and ended up falling a few stories to her death in Sungei Wang Plaza. So yeah, I am a-ok. But that reminds me if ever I wear that shoes, and there's the halted escalator at Cheras Selatan, I should just remove my shoes and walk barefoot until I reach a safe zone. Would that be weird or eccentric?
Of course I have stumbled worse and all but today, if it happened years ago I would have feel very humiliated at my own clumsy fat slob self. But today, I supposed with age comes ... surrender? I mean what else to do eh?
so, have you been in such situation before? Like in full view of people? Did anyone come to your aid? Did you survive the feeling of "OH MY GOD, I AM SO GONNA BURY MY HEAD IN THE CONCRETE?". Do tell.
This is my very first first impressions post. First Impressions will be my ermm first impression of the series or movies after viewing a few episodes or the trailers, etc. This is by no means my final review or opinion, it is merely my first impression. It would be interesting to see whether my final review will be consistent with my first impression or will there be a dramatic change. This is good for record purposes since sometimes I do forget what was my first impression of that particular title. I hope you will enjoy reading. Please do not post any spoilers at this point since I have yet to finish watching that title. Thanks.
I have to say this; after the disastrous Forensic Heroes I wasn't expecting much although there were Bowie and Wong He and then there's Christine Ng (who seems to be in every series TVB produced) and of course Maggie Siu. All of them are good actors, 2 of them excellent. You know how I feel about Bowie and Maggie. Even Christine Ng can be really good when she wants to be. Wong He used to be excellent until recently don't know why he seems to be reciting the script and looks a bit pretentious but his character here seems to go back to his earlier roles, those bumbling nice guy role. Here he used to be an undercover cop for 2 years. Bowie his big brother is the I suppose leader of the teams or something at CIB (?) and Maggie is an ambitious reporter whilst Christine, another ambitious reporter who is married with Bowie. The entire series is about CIB and quite frankly other than collecting dates, analyzing it and presenting clues and satistics to the detectives, I don't quite know what they do really. Profilers? Investigators? Seems highly qualified with suits and all. There are cases each time but so far, after about 6 episodes or so, the story is moving along quite nicely. The music is different, all westernised with a lot of oooohhh, ahhhhhhs and ah-ha-hasssss which is well different. Of course the themesong is god awful with Bowie singing it and I thought Wong He will sing the end song but luckily the producers thought one time torture enough and so the end song is so far always some music or english song. The graphics changes are quite nifty, nothing like a group of actors walking in V formation like some flock of birds or some looking into the camera like really cool and all. Even the trailers is different, revealing very little but enough to make you tune in tomorrow. Compared to Under The Canopy Of Love which is showing at 8.30pm time slot, this 9.30pm time slot is something between something really serious and something really lighthearted. I am surprised to Chan Hung Lit as well, looking younger, no beard and not quite so modern in a modern type series. Bowie is masculine as usual but these days seems more out of breath. He and Christine paired up well and in the series they have a teenaged son! Possible of course. Maggie is as usual excellent but I don't quite see her that well matched with Wong He. Wong He must be paired with someone young, someone very bubbly looking because if not he will look like a little boy and the woman an old woman. We shall see of course. And Wong He himself is still reciting his lines but at least he seems to get more at ease with himself. I don't know what's wrong with him but he's getting better. And he looks like he put on some weight, which is great. But Bowie can be such an attractive man when he wants to be. The entire CIB team is silly looking, especially Joe Jr as the boss. I don't know what's up with that hair but that is just too distracting. The SWAT-team like team is just ridiculous. Called OCTB I think. Like robots everytime they appear and it is hurting the series, in my opinion. The way they march and catch criminals I just laugh because they are so dramatic, so robotic and so expressionless.
So far the story centres on the brothers and the relationship with their father. The two reporters are competing with each other although Christine had it more difficult as she is trying to juggle her responsibilities as a wife, a mother and a high flying reporter whilst resisting the temptation of asking her husband for the latest news or peeking at his work. Maggie's mother is a sad case and her relationship with Wong He is rocky since she thought Christine used her husband and brother in law to get to Maggie. So so far it is a case of misunderstandings. I am sure love is coming soon.
Frankly thus far I really like this series. However formulaic the CIB members may be (who seems to solve cases by having endless meetings) and those robotic OCTB members, the story of the brothers and the wife and the woman and the father is very entertaining. I think it is a stroke of genius to pair Bowie and Wong He as brothers since they look alike, somewhat and I feel Bowie gives me the feeling of an older wiser brother whilst Wong He the younger more impulsive brother but they share a great relationship. The chemistry between these two is even better than with the women. Moreover Bowie acting cool is always great to watch.
I can't help but share with you the 1st episode which was confusing, since it was the same story told in 4 perspective but give this series an edge over other similar series with its cool intercut and how it introduced each character. It is long winded and repetetive but in the end when we are shown the full picture, we know who is who, who is married to who and who is doing what. Brilliant opening. But why must they make references to Infernal Affairs, that rooftop scenes where the older cop gives the younger undercover cop a watch for his birthday? In fact same dialogue as well. Quite tongue in cheek actually. What is interesting is whilst these two were having their own meeting CIB was watching them from afar! Didn't see that in the movie!
Overall I am impressed with the story, the performances and the direction. I don't know how it will go, I will not even speculate because I don't see Bowie and Maggie together or Wong He going for Christine Ng so I suppose the love relationship is pretty set in here. So what will tip the story? What's the drama going to be? Only more viewings will tell. For this one my first impression is VERY GOOD. Hopefully my first impression will survive my final review.
If you have ASTRO and you're not watching this, you should be. It is still early into the series so if you watch now you won't miss that much. BUT my advice is get the 1st episode just to see how the characters were introduced. Like I said, long winded but very rewarding in the end when everything ties up nicely.
More info : Now showing on ASTRO CH 311 (Wah Lai Toi) 9.30pm from Mon-Fri.
There is this wacky website that sends members to ask famous celebrities, writers, sportsmen a very interesting and hypothetical questions that took some of these stars by surprise. And some answered by simple case of logic.
Now Minotaur is top half bull, lower half legs (man. A trident is what Poseidon holds, that fork-like tool. A centaur, well you know a centaur. Top half men, lower half horse (on four legs) and a cross bow, you know what's a crossbow is. Faster than bow of course. So now the all important question:-
WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT-A MINOTAUR WITH A TRIDENT OR A CENTAUR WITH A CROSSBOW?
I am inclined to think that a centaur will win if you think escaping death is winning. Centaur is light, faster, far more intelligent and crossbow once loaded strikes faster. Minotaur on the other hand is strong, can charge full speed ahead and may have thick hide/skin. Plus a trident can kill without having to load it first. But still centaur is more agile so maybe with a bit of strategy and tactic, a centaur will win.
Referring and a continuation from THIS POST of mine, I made a huge mistake. The ending wasn't changed, the director just removed 3 final chapters of the 1st book to give it a happy ending and then to continue it in the 2nd movie. And I have read a lot of comments that said why watch this movie which is against God?
Oh my God. My my my my my my my .... I can go on writing that...do you think like that too? So being an atheist is the same or even worse than worshipping the devil? Because I don't see any protest about movies about fallen angels and Lucifer. The final book did kill God but the bad one. A bad angel took over the kingdom and was ruling badly so Asriel and Marisa sacrificed themselves to kill him and to save their daughter, universe and mankind in general. Now if there is any reason that is more Godly than the ultimate scrifice of ones life for the betterment of others, I can't think of any other reason why this movie is not anti-God. And God is forgiving enough to not take this as a demerit of your one point towards heaven.
Come on...come on... the church has far more urgent issues to deal with than to protest against the books and this movie and Harry Potter books and whilst they are protesting, it is like trying to take your attention away from all the recent scandals. Why ban the books? Why ban the movies? I pity all those children that has yet to enjoy the marvellous world of Harry Potter and likewise those who have parents that are too narrowminded to allow them to enjoy the stimulating debate that the adventures of Lyra Belacqua had to offer. I mean I didn't really like the books purely from a literary reason since I find it rather confusing and the characters that I like are fundamentally flawed as parents BUT well...if there is a reason to ban books and movies, it shouldn't be because it offends God. The books can advocate very religious themes without being ultra religious. So the writer is atheist. So he hated Narnia. So did I. And I dislike these books too. But one issue is not the same as the other.
