AD PLACEMENT
NEW FEATURES & STUFF
A new layout and a special panel to highlight what's new that comes with this new look. I hope you will enjoy these new features & stuff!
You as a reader can now rate the review you're reading! Yes, like we the reviewers rate the production title, you now can rate our review. If you feel it is badly written, give it the lowest rate. If it is the most informative and very well written, you can give it a max 5 star rating. Be honest now! Just because we diss your favourite star doesn't mean we deserve nothing & just because we lavish praises doesn't mean we should get 5. Rate us because you feel it is well written, structural wise and on how much info you could get from that review.

For those who hates writing full length review and yet wants to comment on a title without having to post it in some other review, you can now write your own short reviews! All short reviews will be collected and combined into one special page with Opinion as the indicator. It is not a form but a comments type page so you can always delete your comments and rewrite a new one. Check out the links in all reviews section under the big green title, SHORT REVIEWS POST HERE.

Check out Funn In Second Life, my avatar, Funn Jewell's own blog on her travels, her fashion mishaps & many more tales from Second Life.

Want to meet up and chat? You can now propose a gathering and I'll do the announcement. From time to time I too will organize some chat sessions in Habbo Malaysia. Check out the details under the top panel, MEET & CHAT

 Boycotting The Golden Compass
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

Which I don't encourage you to do, not because I am anti-relgion, anti-God and pro-devil or whatever, but because from what I read how the ending was changed into Hollywood-ish, obviously there is no reason to boycott a movie that is shooting itself on its legs, so to speak. What I like about the ending of Northern Lights was how brutal and extreme Lord Asriel can be to achieve his ends and how Lyra came to grips with that but the movie, from the reviews I've read seems preoccupied with Lyra-Roger story when Roger is not the protaganist, just one of the characters forcing Lyra to seek her destiny without she knowing. If the ending can be so positive like in the movie, how then will Will come into the picture from Book 2 and 3? The great thing about Asriel and Coulter is that they're such lousy parents, especially Asriel who doesn't care about Lyra at all but they both know they have to do something to save their world, so to speak which was why what happened to Roger was in a way the ultimate sacrifice that one could commit. I disliked Asriel more but feel he is such a magnetic force in the story. From what I read Daniel Craig will have less than 10 min time on screen. A pity because in Book 2, he is like Saruman, spoke about but not seen whilst Book 3 he will have a major role to play. Already I dislike the movie for the amount of butchering, to sanitise the entire theme of the book. So what is there to boycott? The movie itself is boycotting itself so no worries, take your children, good Christians and all to watch it and feel glad that Hollywood will in itself exercise self censorship, however unnecessary and however ridiculous it is to chop up a perfectly good ending so to please those they think crave for happy positive ending which is not what The Golden Compass is about. It is pretty bleak.

Anyway, for Daniel Craig, I look forward to Flashbacks Of A Fool more than this movie. And I am not even a fan of the books!! Oh imagine Harry Potter 7, Voldemort and Harry kiss and make up and become friends. How blasphemous, such tragedy, how irresponsible to the millions and millions of children.

So no boycott ok? Because there isn't any reason to do just that.

What a pile of rubbish adaptation. It is the Harry Potter syndrome again. Get the LOTR gang to show them all how to adapt a book into a decent movie, more so 3 books into 3 decent movies.

Added some more reviews by me, all written way back forever. I didn't even know I wrote one for Wars Of The In Laws until I checked the database, yeap, I got one and I didn't add it. I am trying to find a few more of my reviews but too tired to add some more so I'll continue next week and after that I'll start adding the submissions. Now that I got a lot! Movies and I think some series. Enjoy reading and as usual feedback by Post A Comment is most welcomed. Rate the reviews if you want.

- Wars Of In-Laws [TVB]

- The Charm Beneath [TVB]

- Switched [MediaCorp][S'pore]

Switched is a series that reunites Jeanette Aw and Shaun Chen and then there's the ever beautiful Fann Wong in an ugly role. Whilst I was checking the MediaCorp website, I discovered Shaun was in a very challenging role as an abusive husband to I think Ivy Lee in a new series called Live Again. I was so excited and then I realised well won't get to see that! So well... tough luck and again Singapore, LUCKY YOU!

I actually thought I can finish all in like 2 hours and 3 hours have passed and I just managed to post 3 reviews. More coming soon...

All reviews by me. If you notice any blank spaces please do inform me. But I think these reviews are complete. Written like some months ago except for Forensic Heroes which is just an opinion (no summary, not much review).

- Forensic Heroes (TVB)

- It Started With A Kiss (Taiwan/China)

- Safe Guards (TVB)

- Safe Guards (TVB) : Pure summary, seperated from review since it is much too long.

Feedback is welcomed as always, since I haven't done so for quite some time. Remember, use Post A Comment for respective review. Shoutbox can be used to inform me of any dead links or missing paragraphs. Also if the links don't work here, go to the reviews page. If the reviews' links do not work there, ok I am in big trouble.

 Updates & Help!
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

Fixed
Link to Devil Beside You review in Taiwan/China reviews. Thanks to Lil for the tip. If you notice any broken link to the reviews, please tag to the Shout Box if not I will never know.

All the short reviews form in all sections. So feel free to post your short reviews. Also any submission, do send in them now. First timers or those who hasn't done it in a long time you're encouraged to read the Submission Guidelines in About.

Added the link logo in Link Exchange in About. So feel free to link to my site either by text or by the logo. Do observe the few small requests from me.

Added
The long list of topics in Topics in the left panel of this and every major page. Some may be repetetition since I have 2 seperate blogger accounts and so you may see Everything TVB is the same as TVB Stuff. Some posts are repeated as well since they can fit into any category. But it is a great reference to how to find certain posts.

Reminder
Any problems please tag to the Shout Box. When posting feedback either in this page or in the reviews please use Post A Comment. If you're writing your own review but short reviews, do please use the Submit Your Short Reviews links. Great for compiling short reviews. The older reviews's template may be missing, but I am in the midst of updating the templates. So do bear with me but you can still read the text.

HELP NEEDED
If you happen to come across my old old reviews that I didn't add into the current database, please do email them to me either in their original HTML form, text form or the direct URL since I have lost many of my reviews over the years either because of my computer going haywire or I didn't think to save those reviews. Your help is much appreciated.

THANKS!!

 TVB Awards 2007
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

I didn't know it was that time of year again and indeed it zoomed by. You can view the winner's list in a lot of sites but what is really interesting is the budget that each star could and could not afford. Jayne wrote a very nice article on the best and worst fashion and whilst I disagree the point about Charmaine Sheh's dress (a bit like negligee to me and as usual she seems to favour her own tailored dress because it doesn't feel like those designer dress, Shirley Yeung (her style is perpetually stuck in the 80s although lckily she dind't turn up in something pink and fluffy) and Yoyo Mung (the dress seems to drown her), the rest are quite on the spot. But why I posted the link here is because as you scroll down the article, you will notice two very interesting thing;

1. Lydia Shum has lost so much weight. Not a good sign. And Kathy Chow is 40? She looks better now than she did when she was younger.

2. Somewhere along check out the heading "The Supporting Cast" and the picture of Law Lok Lam and colleagues. The divide between the privileged and the not so privileged and the sponsored and the not so sponsored has never been so clear than in that picture. I am quite disgusted with how the award show has become actually. It may have been a celebration of sorts before but now it is like all out see what I'm wearing and with all the diamonds and all and you being the supporting cast had neither the sponsorship nor the money to have such luxury actually look like a poor man's guest. And the credibility of the awards show is still in question in my opinion when Heart of Greed won best series I think and that series to me is one of the worst.

However a few bright spots can be seen in this award or half bake award show is that you get to see interesting men's fashion and Raymond Lam surprisingly leads the way for looking rather modern chic you know. I mean a bit flamboyant with his hair but I like his style.

Anyway did you agree with the winners? Do you even care?

Check out the article here at Jayne Stars.

Excuses, updates, important notice & ramblings
Permanent link  Post a Comment  0 comments

Excuses
Why am I so slow? Slow as in why I have yet to add the new reviews like I said I would?

Because the damn Funn In Second Life, that's why. The bloody layout was a-ok but when I posted it using Blogger, everything went haywire!! Which explained why I haven't added anything, posted anything, done anything other than what I am going to tell you after this paragraph. Wretched stupi layout!! Arghhhh...

Updates
Ok, to Sehseh and everyone else, I have just added the logo for linking purposes. If you have added the link at your website, you should see the logo right now. Nice eh? No? I am drained, my entire artistic energy is drained, and even if not drained, still very limited. So it is the best I can do right now. If you want the link logo, go to About > Link Exchange.
Do check out the favourites link at the bottom of this and every major sections in this website from time to time. I just added a few good links.

Important Notice
Anyone interested in writing short reviews please don't do so, yet. The review form I posted ended up being a comment form. I need to change the code in each and every single page. This is such a hassle but I am sure with your active participation it will be worth it.

Finally, some ramblings
Anyway, just a bit rambling here. How does one say no? I mean the hardest thing to say is no. Not I love you. But no. Why? Try going to the supermarket, everyone shoving their samples at you plus all those credit card people saying "It's free, free for life...get one, pleaseeeeeee" and you just had to say no, no, no. I have never said so many nos before in my life except when I go to Jusco or Giant where I kept saying no, no, no. How do I explain to these hardworking souls? That I don't want milk, I don't want to buy nuggets, I don't want another credit card so that I can accumulate more debt, I don't want to drink Tongkat Ali or Kacip Fatimah or what nots...so I kept saying no, until I could hear Amy Winehouse's Rehab song in my mind, going No..no...no...Then I even got the lyrics. Imagine it is that Rehad song, the first few verses...

They tell me that I have to try it I said
Nooooo...nooooo...nooooo
I have been black and now I am debt free so I said
nooooo...noooo....noooo
How many times
have I tried to tell you why...
I don't need another credit card so I go
Noooo...nooooo....noooooo

Saying no is really the hardest word in Malaysia although I notice there are many who are good with it, like dismissing someone with just a wave of the hand without even looking up and continuing slurping their tea. It can be seen as rude but after so many nos, what can one do to say no in the fastest most economic way other than the rudest way there is?

 HELLO AGAIN!!
Permanent link  Post a Comment  4 comments

Yes, I'm back! I can't imagine that I did not post one single post for the entire month of October 2007. Did you miss me? Nope? Ok, feeling is however not mutual. I miss you all, and speaking to myself of course. Anyway I hope you like the new look. I feel it is more organized and with some great features I hope to get you to participate. What's new? Some great stuff like...

- you can now rate the reviews. Yes, it is dangerous but it is also fun to know. But since reviews have yet to be updated, it will take time. New reviews however will carry that rate this review thing at the bottom of the review.

- you can now post your own short review in all the relevant reviews category. I'll then compile them into one roof for one title. There is a purpose to this; I haven't been updating much and I hope to get you guys to comment about the new series you have watched, especially TVB series and even the lesser known productions since many will surely appreciate your feedback. If you're too tired or busy to write a full length review, try this new feature. You can't miss it! As for full length reviews, I have rewritten the Submission Guidelines in About. Do read it for the newbies and all. I still want full length reviews by the way so do keep sending them in.

- I am completing my Funn In Second Life blog which will have my avatar's posts. Really fun stuff.

- As with the Meet & Chat thing like we did the last time where only a handful turned up, you can now suggest such a chat either private chat or an open invitation to all. I hate not having anyone turn up for the meeting so why don't you suggest it? Use the form in Meet & Chat panel. I will of course organize some later on. I will need your help. If you have a website to announce a bit as the more the merrier. Since I haven't been updating for so long that my google rating has become ZERO, I doubt anyone will refuse to turn up because I dissed someone else. So please do help a little...

- I added a favourite links at the bottom of this page. A note to PEARL... do you have a site logo I can use other than your avatar?

- And last but not least I am sure you have seen that cool menu bar on top. Cool eh? But if you screen resolution is anything but the one I stated, it will look weird! Problem with this site is it is designed for a certain resolution although both Firefox and IE will look ok, except for Firefox where I am sure you will immediately notice a slight but annoying difference. Enable javascript and allow blocked content, if not you won't see most stuff. And remember to disable debugging since this site has errors.

My only problem now is in IE I just can't seem to post in The Shout Box. Something about cookie deactivated but it is activated. Eeeeeeeee....

New reviews coming soon. I have tons from Pearl, a few new ones...hopefully by this weekend. As usual most sections are still under renovation and because I have posted hundreds of posts in the old Blogger account, I think my template update for that old account was only halfway through when it freezeframed.

Those linking to this site via my logo has to update the logo link as i have springcleen the old files. More in About > Link Exchange.

Seriously, anyone still here????? Or have I dug my own grave and buried my site in it under 12 feet of cold hard sand?

TV NOW
So what's on TV these days? With so many Asian channels on ASTRO, it would be appropriate to compile a list here for your reference. Here is a list of Asian shows being broadcast via ASTRO Malaysia in the prime time slot which includes local terrestrial channels. More info below.
MORE INFO

The number indicated next to the channel title is the ASTRO channel number and the time is Malaysian time (+8.00GMT).

Titles with means there are reviews for this title in our database. Check the relevant section for the said reviews.

The list includes productions from China [Ch], Singapore [Sg], Malaysia [Mas], Taiwan [Tw], Korea [Kr], Japan [Jp]

Some channels are dedicated channels meaning for example WLT [Ch 311], TVB8 [Ch 311] and TVB9 [Ch 311} broadcasts 100% TVB productions which will include series produced somewhere else but the rights bought by TVB, HDD [Ch 333] which broadcasts Taiwanese productions in 100% Fujian/Hokkien dialect, which will sometime include shows that were dubbed into the said dialect and KBS [Ch 322] which broadcasts Korean productions which will include foreign productions dubbed into Korean. Since KBS is a production house, I can only assume the series broadcasts will be exclusively KBS productions unless KBS bought the rights to broadcast the respective titles.

Titles where its origin is not indicated means it is HKTVB production.

D means is dubbed, DL means Dual Language, M means Mandarin, K means Korean, C means Cantonese and E means English.

So if you see ... (a) Title A [Kr][D-DL-CM] in WLT [Ch 311], it means Title A is a Korean series broadcast in Wah Lai Toi (TVB) channel where you'll find it is a 100% dubbed series with dual language where Cantonese is the prime language and Mandarin the 2nd language. Yes, even if it is a Korean series some channels may completely dub over it with 2 language choices. (b)Title A [Kr] in KBS [Ch 322], it means this Title A is a Korean series broadcast over at KBS channel and it offers only one language that is its language of origin, Korean with not alternative choice of language since it is not Dual Language. (c) Title A [Kr][D-M], it means Title A is a Korean series which has been completely dubbed into Mandarin. It also means there will not be any original language since it has been dubbed over. (d) Title A [Kr][DL-KC], it means Title A is a Korean series which offers dual language choice, Korean being the prime language with Cantonese as the dubbed version. Hence you won't see D as in Dubbed in it since one of the language is the original language and most probably the one being broadcast will be the original language and you must switch on the dubbed version.

All shows listed are subtitled in Malay for terresterial channels whilst exclusive ASTRO channels will sometimes have English and Chinese subtitles in addition to Malay subtitles.
