UNDER MAJOR RECONSTRUCTION! WHEN DONE, IT WILL BE THE BEST "COSMESTIC SURGERY" EVER (base on the budget/time I can afford)
One of my most favourite lullaby and I never knew what it meant until now. I know it is Welsh. The title I found out means Lullaby. This song was used to great effect in Empire Of The Sun and whenever I hear this song I will inevitably remember young Christian Bale's haunted face, those empty eyes, those confusion, those emptiness as his parents sought him out amongst the many children after WWII ended. I still remember that look. Beautiful song though and beautifully sung by Ambrosian Boys Choir which is the version I have. The lyrics and the download link after Read More link.
I can't remember which TVB series OVERUSE this song but Google says The Last Breakthrough. Maybe this series also uses this song although I can't imagine Kevin Cheng being extremely angry or Roger Kwok being cunning and evil and this song is played. If I remember correctly, it must be "Heart Of Greed" where the song always appears whenever Raymond Lam and Linda Chung appears. What I do remember clearly is I was very annoyed with this song because it means ahhhh sappy love story moments again! Kinda like what series it was that overuse It's A Big Big World and I almost threw the TV out when the song was played for the millionth time in that series. Was it Detective Investigation Files IV with Louis Koo and Jessica Hester Hsuen? I ended up hating that song, till now. However this present song is very beautifully sung and very melodic and the lyrics is touching. I still quite like it. Just imagine yourself walking alone on the deserted streets with this song playing and your tears will suddenly flow. Why? I do not know. Sung by Christine Glass (yeah my first reaction was WHO?! also and I still don't know who she is) I am sure you can find the song everywhere but in case you can't, the download link after Read More link.
I can't quite imagine I have this song until I checked that I have it indeed. It is the themesong to one of the most entertaining TVB series (even if the acting may suck a bit)where Man Of Wisdom starred a very young Ada Choi whilst there was also a sequel, Man Of Wisdom II, both as entertaining and I checked, 1993 and 1995 respectively! Wow! Old! I am not sure which one was the themesong for but it was sung by the great Roman Tam and it has very complex lyrics, teachings of Confucius I suppose. I never knew what it meant, I mean I knew but can't quite explain it until thanks to 2 very generous souls who not only found the lyrics but translated the lyrics. Funny thing is my version in English is Confucius Says. Now when I searched for the lyrics it came out as Confucius Day! But like Kidd informed, the word "曰" is read as "Yeuk" in cantonese which can be "Say"/"Speak" or I suppose "Teach" as well? Not "Preach" though. I am sticking with "Say". The lyrics are repetitive though. A bit different version but in the end comes to the same thing. The translated lyrics I am posting is my own amalgamation of these 2 versions, much liberties have been used for certain meaning but I believe in the end the meaning is similar in Cantonese. I was rather not so surprised to find that the music was written by Japanese, as Kidd said "yuichi Sakamoto/Choho Miyaka/Katsu Hoshi". But the lyrics, quite simply difficult (which shows how great Cantonese can be) AND melodic. You can watch the music video here. Can't find this in youtube though. Download link also after the READ MORE link.
This is the themesong for one of the best series on martial arts that is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon BUT NOT the movie version starring Chow Yun Fatt (should have been JET LI!!!), directed by Ang Lee (should have been ZHANG YIMOU!!!) that introduced Zhang Zhiyi to the western audience but the TV series starring lesser knowns like Qiu Xinzhi, my one time obsession. I remembered this series fondly and oh so many years ago (though I never liked Peter Ho or Shui Ling) BUT what I remembered even more was the themesong by our very own Eric Moo called Reunited or Reunion or Tuan Yuan or 团圆. GREAT SONG! VERY WELL SUNG! Very limited lyrics!
Thanks to Pearl, I finally could say what the words mean. The song sounds long but the lyrics repeat itself again and again and again.
You will find the translated lyrics and the download link for the MP3 version after the READ MORE link. In case the link is dead later on, just use Post A Comment to notify me and I will repost the link. The song isn't going anywhere. It has been in my Sony Ericsson handphone since day 1.
