Do you use Blogspot? Or any other hosting services, personal or otherwise? Because there are 2 ways I know where if you like, you can add my link at your website PLUS the updates (like first 5 or 10 posts, depending on your own preference) PLUS titles, dates added, dates last updated and links at your website. Or you can just add the links. Gone are the days of logos, these type of linking are more fun, interactive and useful. Check out how below.
If you use Blogspot AND the new Widget style layout
1. Go to Layout
2. Click Page Elements
3. (if you're using Blogger in draft) Click Add A Gadget (if you're using the usual Blogger, I think it is Add A Widget or something similar)
4. In pop up window, find and choose either
a. Blog List
- this is useful if you want to lump all favourite links in one panel and yet you could customise it to show latest posts, etc
- Click Add To List
- Write the following in the space provided in Add By URL
- You can choose to show just the link or add also dates of last updates, snippets, etc. Personally, I like Last updates and perhaps the title also. Icon seems to be redundant and waste of space.
- Click Save.
- Then click and drag that gadget panel anywhere you like to place it in your template and that's it! Save your template, and click your link and see the latest post from Point2e.com displayed there with any other links you add in!
b. RSS Feeds
- If you feel you want to dedicate an entire panel to Point2e.com's updates (and thanks very much for the privilege), you can instead add my link under the gadget/widget known as Feed.
- Write the following in the space provided in Feed URL
- Click continue and then choose what you like. Show 5 items or less and date it was added. Personally no need to add the Items sources/authors since all of the posts are by me and I am sure you will be sick to see Funn Lim repeated 5 times!
- Click Save and then save the template and that's it!
Easy eh? If you have the classic Blogger template, why not consider switching to Widget based Blogspot? Anyway if you have your own hosting or you love Classic Blogger template or you are using Wordpress or whatever, there is an alternate way to add my updates at your site. I am sure Wordpress and other blogs have other methods but the following is what I do know that works.
If you use Classic Template or other hosts
- One method I do know is using Widgets called Blidgets provided free from other sites. One of which is Widgetbox.com. However at the bottom will have one unintrusive link back but it looks cool.
- You will need to register first
- Then change the settings as you like, like colour, size, what to display, etc. Fully customisable
- Then click Get Widget
- Copy the code in the box and just add it in your Classic Blogger template or any other template in the list included there. Whilst you have to do it manually for Classic Blogger template, for Wordpress and gang, there is an automatic addition into your template provided you give correct details as required.
- You can also use this for your Blogspot widget-based template by clicking the B sign for Blogger, choose the blog's name and then add the widget. You will find it probably as a side panel widget. Drag the widget to anywhere you like. Personally if you use Blogspot, better use the 1st method I wrote at the top of this post.
See how easy it is? Look at my site, I just add the links so if you like you can do just that. But if you like to add more, just click your preference. I wouldn't mind you displaying the date, source, title, snippets and 10 latest posts. Link back is not obligatory so adding me or not is not really the issue. You can use the same method to add other blogs or even encourage others to add your blog.
